Dell Axim X3The X3 from Dell comes in three models, Basic, Advanced, and X3i; and answers a lot of calls from users in terms of improvements over their previous X5 model which was bulkier. You give a little bit back for the smaller size but there are also a lot of great features that make the X3 models worth noting. There are litanies of features that literally make Dell what we want them to be. Screen With a transflective TFT color LCD display, the dell X3 is a pretty well equipped visual unit. Add in the 65K color, 240x320 resolutions, and the 3.5” diagonal screen and we’ll call the Axim X3 a pretty well stocked. Battery With PDA’s battery life is often one of the most important and contentious issues. The Axim X3 from Dell includes a 950 mA Lithium rechargeable battery which is replaceable. Extended use battery is almost double the strength of the one included. Audio Dell Axim X3 was built for fun and tunes! Included in the package are a built in speaker, microphone, and 3.5mm standard stereo headphone jack. The Axim X3 has just about everything else your auditory senses could want or would need. Included in this are a voice recorder and Windows Pocket Media Player 9 for your MP3. Software Though the Axim X3 is inclusive of the usual roster of Windows Mobile software, there is very little else in terms of third party software. Among these are: Pocket PC 2003 OS (Windows Mobile) Microsoft Pocket Office suite which includes Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and Outlook. There are also MSN instant messenger for Pocket PC, MS Reader, as well as handwriting recognition as well as some other third party software. Axim X3 from Dell comes equipped also with 1SD slot for SDIO. Also an Intel XScale PXA236 400 MHz processor comes standard on all models of the Dell Axim X3 PDA. There is also 32 MB of RAM and 32 MB of ROM on the Basic model and 64 MB RAM and 64 MB of ROM on the Advanced and X3i Models. For networking abilities, you’ve got to pony up for the X3i model as it’s the only model Axim X3 PDA that comes equipped with Wi-Fi. All in all, a good swing for Dell but this is a long since retired model. If you still do have this PDA and are looking for aluminum cases, sleeves, or replacement batteries you may want to check the Dell website as I’m sure they offer supplemental products and product information. While the Dell X3 series has since been replaced, it did show just what Dell is able to deliver.
