IBMIBM has always worked on other things besides there core business and going into the PDA market doesn't really surprise me much. Taking a look at there IBM Workpad PC C505 what we see here is a PDA that looks a lot like a Palm Pilot and does about the same things. Still let's look and see what it can do. IBM has always done well in different markets and the PDA market is a lot tougher than most people think. The Workpad does not weigh a lot at only 139 g. The memory is around 4mb-flash. i will give it a plus on the side as it does take MultiMediacards. Adding more to it makes it a viable option for more than just the individual person.Looking at the screen you will see a standard screen at 160 x 160 resolution. Not as good as some of the newer ones who boast some great color and details. of course your not paying no way near those prices either. One really good thing about this IBM PDA is that up to 9 hours of run time. A lot of the new ones don't even last that long which is a drawback in my mind. It uses the Palm operating system 4.0 which includes address book, date book, to do list, memo pad, note pad, calculator, security, and e-mail. IBM does give great supports with there products so you will have IBM backing there products. Now some of the other IBM PDA's are just basically Palm Pilot copies. I would like to have seen IBM come up with better items for there PDA's. I know these are some of there older models but still be original would have been nice. One good thing about the IBM PDA's that you should be able to get them at a very good price. Don't get me wrong they are nice products just I expected more from IBM. I understand that they basically were trying and seeing what they could do in the market, but in my opinion it hurt them more than it helped them. Hopefully next time IBM gets into a market they will work on there own products and make an impact instead of copying off of someone else. NO matter what I'm sure these items can be had on Ebay pretty cheap and they do work well.
