Palm M515Running on a 33MHz processor and with a listed battery time that’s not even listed, I’m reminded of dialup internet and those bulky mid 80’s cell phones you had to plug into the lighters of cars just to get them to work. While the m515 from Palm is a little more recent than that, you get the idea. It’s strange to think back to how recently it was when I was occupying a phone line and only going online in the middle of the night just because the dial up signal was so frustrating every other time of the day. With a touch sensitive display, under 5oz weight, and rudimentary software included, the Palm m515 did fine for its time. Some of the included software were things like mail, clock, expense, memo pad, note pad, date book, calculator, to-do list, palm reader, address book, palm desktop software, DataViz documents to go, AvantGo web channel manager, and MGI photo suite mobile edition. However with only 16 MB of RAM and no flash memory installed, the m515 from Palm lacked a lot. If you’re looking for that ever illusive discount model PDA, you may need to browse elsewhere; while the m515 model from Palm Pilot is so old that the word around the internet about availability is nil. There is a constant influx of new machinery coming across the lineup every day; technology is always changing as inventors discover newer, faster, cheaper ways to produce what was once exclusive and expensive for everyone in an inexpensive manner. So locating a cheap Palm Pilots 515m model PDA may not be as good an idea as getting the next model up. Once you get your PDA, you’ll want to make sure it lasts. There are numerous sleeves, protectors, and cases available for your use. If you head to any store that sells the PDA’s, you should be able to easily locate an applicable case to protect your unit. There are still probably cases available for your Palm Pilot m515. Look no further than your retailer for a wide array of aluminum cases that add that little bit of extra protection on your m515. You also need to power up your new unit. Like your morning cup of java, power is the essential piece to the complex puzzle of digital communications. Without the juice, connection will be lost so it’s a wise idea to investigate your power source type and availability before you get your PDA. As stated about the battery, the life isn’t even listed on Palm’s website anymore; if you still have the m515 you can probably get a spare for extended life or if you’re away from an outlet for an extended period. Technology keeps changing; while the performance and innovations of the m515 model from Palm is now a thing long since passed, there is plenty to see in the distance we’ve come, looking back at the way we were.
